Programs at the Park in July!

SATURDAY, JULY 25, 2015 – BEGINNING ORIENTEERING

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM – Meet beside Lakeview Pavilion (Main Day-Use Area)

 Join Jim Wolfe, President of the Western PA Orienteering Club.  Learn to read a map, basic compass skills and how the sport of orienteering works. This introduction will be followed by an exercise in which participants use their new skills to find marked locations in the park. There will be approximately 30 minutes of instruction and 60 minutes of exercise.  (Friends of the Parks program)

 

SUNDAY, JULY 26, 2015 – VENOMOUS SNAKES OF PA

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM – Environmental Learning Classroom

 Don’t let their scales and appearance fool you…snakes play an important role in the environment.  Find out what’s real and what’s not, from the poisonous to the perfectly harmless and much, much more.    Live snakes will be on hand, so don’t miss out on this grand opportunity.  (Friends of the Parks program)
